What We Believe

Conrad Mission Church Doctrinal Statement

  • We believe the Bible in its entirety to be the inspired Word of God.
  • We believe there is but one living and true God revealed in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that in order to have eternal life a person must be “born again” by the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that salvation is had only through faith in Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.
  • We believe in the virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, His sacrificial death for our sins, His bodily resurrection, and His return.
  • We believe there is but one true Church, embracing all who are united in Christ by saving faith and divine grace.
  • We believe in the sacraments/ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper and that true believers should receive them.
  • We believe that the baptism or indwelling of the Holy Spirit takes place at the time of conversion and is the act of placing the believer into the body of Christ (Rom. 6:3-5, Col. 2:12). The baptism of the Holy Spirit is not manifested by unusual signs such as speaking in tongues (I Cor. 12:13, Gal. 3:27).  This is distinct and different from the “filling” of the Holy Spirit which is commanded of all believers (Eph. 5:18).  The “filling” of the Holy Spirit is repeated or continuous (Acts 4:31, Jn 4:13,14, 7:38) and brings the believer under the control or influence of the Holy Spirit which, in turn, produces Christlikeness, or the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22,23).
