Thessalonians

Teachers: Mark Grubb & Ryan Wood  

Dear friends: Mark and Ryan will be teaching from Thessalonians.  It is regarded as the earliest surviving written document in the New Testament canon and has the earliest references to Christ's second coming and encourages a delightful church.  We will study the Holy Spirit and the formation of the New Testament.   

The resource we will provide in the class is part of a Moody Bible classic series called BE.....

The book of  Thessalonians is" Be ready", by Warren Wiersbe.  Mark relies on studies from Chuck Swindoll and Ryan will add other resources.

Mark was considering the church universal in South America and Central America and a common salutation or greeting is "He is coming soon".   You are encouraged to read the books and participate in a lively discussion about our hope and the imminent (happening very soon) return of Jesus our Saviour.

In 1978 Campus Crusade used a slogan with a line with an arrow on the logo, and the caption was "Living for the Line".  It was a phrase to bring questions about life.  Are you ready?

​How To Study the Bible

What does that verse mean? How did he get that out of that passage? What am I supposed to do with this? How do I know what I believe is true?

If you’ve ever asked a question like these, then you’ve asked a question about how to study the Bible. The Bible is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path (Ps. 119:105). It is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (1 Tim. 3:16). But if we’re honest, sometimes reading the Bible is confusing, there are times when all of us have a hard time understanding it. But the Bible doesn’t have to be intimidating, scary, or discouraging. The Bible was written by God, for us—that means that all of us can read, know, understand, and apply the Bible. No special degree required! If you are looking for the basic skills for rightly handling the word of truth (2 Tim. 2:15), then this class is for you. If you want to brush up on the basic rules of Biblical interpretation, this class is for you. If you want encouragement to get into the Bible for yourself, this class is for you. During the fall session, we’re going to cover:

• the goal of Bible study

• Context, observation, and word studies

• How the Bible interprets the Bible

• And more!
